Photo exhibition “Children of Multiethnic Russia” opened at the RCSC in Kolkata
The solemn inauguration of an exhibition “Children of Multiethnic Russia” dedicated to the National Day of
the Russian Federation was held at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Kolkata on June 24, 2017. The
event was organized by the Guild of Interethnic Journalism of Russia, RCSC and organizing committee of the
international project “My Beloved Russia, My Beloved India”, timed to mark the 70th Anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.
The Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Alexey Idamkin, the Third Secretary of the Russian
Federation in Kolkata Mikhail Gusev, the Deputy Head of the Representation of the Rossotrudnichestvo in India Yury Dubovoy and representatives of the local intellectual and artistic circles took part in the event.
Speaking to the guests of the event, Alexey Idamkin noted the similarity and diversity of the peoples and religions
of Russia and India. Chairman of the organizing committee of the project “My Beloved Russia, My Beloved India” Biman
Kumar Bhattacharjee thanked the Guild of Interethnic Journalism for providing unique photographic materials that give
an idea of modern multiethnic Russia.
«Children of Multiethnic Russia» is an annual contest of photographs, which depict young residents of different
regions of our country in national costumes. The best works become a part of the mobile exposition, which has already
visited more than 40 cities of Russia. The exhibition, which opened on the basis of the RCSC in Kolkata, was the first
demonstration of photographs abroad.
